Video Streaming Sites

When I first started out in this drama-watching obsession of mine, I couldn’t download everything (or even anything, come to think of it) for tech-related reasons, so I relied on the magnificence of internet streaming sites to help me along.

Here’s a list of the ones I use(d) very often, in no particular order. Hopefully this will save you some time.

General Streaming Sites

Youtube: I’m sure you’ve heard of this one by now. If not… then, think of it this way - my friend likes to say ‘Youtube has everything and your mother‘. Not terribly refined, but true.

Veoh: This one tries very hard to imitate your tv, and even goes as far as to require you to download special software to watch videos loaded exclusively on their site. It used to be a favourite of mine, but ever since the new posting restrictions (giving you only a 5 min preview unless you have registered with the software) it’s gotten pesky.

Dailymotion: I watched all 24 episodes of Goong on this one. Fond memories, even if they, like the other big mainstream sites, have now set in place very strict rules about copyrighted material.

Tudou: The Chinese Youtube, only more orange. It has a very user-friendly interface, and I’ve never had any streaming troubles.

Youku: The name’s a pun on Youtube and ‘cool’, and while it is also in wide use, I’ve had so much trouble waiting for it to load that I almost always prefer Tudou. Still a good alternative Chinese site. (They tend to load episodes in their entirety here.)

56: It looks like Youku, and is also a Chinese streaming site. It has a very large collection (all of them do, in fact).

Drama Archiving Sites

Crunchyroll: You have to register for this site, but it’s free and the collection of anime, random tidbits and older dramas is amazing. All are English subbed. Copyrighted stuff, like All About Eve and Goong, for example, have been taken off.

Mysoju: Currently experiencing some problems with broken links, but otherwise awesome site for straight-on drama watching. Subs are in English.

Xiaoli’s Emporium: Chinese site with links to virtually any drama and movie (Asian or North American) in csubs, plus loads of other stuff.

Peekvid: Has a large collection of dramas and movies as well as non Asian drama stuff. Usually my last resort, though.

Will add more when I bump into more resources!

Love,

Sevenses

Oh, when did this page get added? (And I like this design better, more lively)
I sometimes use Tudou or youku, but I absolutely cannot navigate in those sites. Gee, I miss Stage6….

This weekend. I wanted to share in the streaming joy… Hmm. Navigating in Tudou is nigh impossible if you don’t understand Chinese… on the other hand, what I usually do on a non-Chinese computer is to run a wiki search, get the Chinese name of the drama, and then copy/paste into the search bar.

Then go by the numbers that show, I guess. It’ll usually be in the format of ep # plus which section (out of 2/3/4) this is.

Thanks~ I was getting tired of all that monochrome blue.
