Where to Watch
When I first started out in this drama-watching obsession of mine, I couldn’t download everything (or even anything, come to think of it) for tech-related reasons, so I relied on the magnificence of internet streaming sites to help me along.
Here’s a list of the ones I use(d) very often, in no particular order. Hopefully this will save you some time.
Subs:
- 天使社区: THE site for csubbed kdramas.
- Cococrust repository: A mirror site for csubbed kdramas, generally done by TSKS.
- WITHS2: Superb English subbers for kdramas.
General Streaming Sites
- Youtube: I’m sure you’ve heard of this one by now. If not… then, think of it this way – my friend likes to say ‘Youtube has everything and your mother‘. Not terribly refined, but true.
- Tudou: The Chinese Youtube, only more orange. It has a very user-friendly interface, and I’ve never had any streaming troubles.
- Youku: The name’s a pun on Youtube and ‘cool’, and while it is also in wide use, I’ve had so much trouble waiting for it to load that I almost always prefer Tudou. Still a good alternative Chinese site. (They tend to load episodes in their entirety here.)
- Xiaoli’s Emporium: Chinese site with links to virtually any drama and movie (Asian or North American) in csubs, plus loads of other stuff.
- 迅雷看看: Drama/movie archive.
Raw episodes
- D-addicts: houses the torrents to newly aired episodes as well as a complete list of subbed dramas and sub torrents.
- AM-Addiction: raw episodes, usually for download at server sites. Also mind-blowingly comprehensive.
Will add more when I bump into more resources!
Love,
Sevenses
Oh, when did this page get added? (And I like this design better, more lively)
I sometimes use Tudou or youku, but I absolutely cannot navigate in those sites. Gee, I miss Stage6….
This weekend. I wanted to share in the streaming joy… Hmm. Navigating in Tudou is nigh impossible if you don’t understand Chinese… on the other hand, what I usually do on a non-Chinese computer is to run a wiki search, get the Chinese name of the drama, and then copy/paste into the search bar.
Then go by the numbers that show, I guess. It’ll usually be in the format of ep # plus which section (out of 2/3/4) this is.
Thanks~ I was getting tired of all that monochrome blue.
stage 6 was the best:( hate all these other sites, most of them takes 100 yrs to load even 1 ep. Thanks Sevenses for telling me about your sites, very helpful.
just a question, but do you do your caps from watching chinese subbed eps? that’s the general impression i get, but i could be wrong
Amy – Yep! Csubbers usually get the sub out the day after airing, so there’s practically no delay. I have yet to learn Korean.
^ Isn’t it a miracle how quickly they get subs up? My Chinese skills are not yet good enough for me to fully understand an ep with Csubs alone but WOW those Csubbers work at lightening speed (and they aren’t reproducing the show to air in China, so it really must just be regular ol’ subbing groups doing the subbing).
^ At this point I’m not sure they even sleep.
try http://www.asiandramas.blogspot.com, eng subb great selections of asian dramas and movies
http://kankan.xunlei.com
Amazing site for all (asian, us, etc) movies, drama in chinese or csubs, current or very old oldies…it is so huge I have not even got to most of them. Amazing quality and streaming capabilities…very much like stage6. Need to dl software 1st to watch. I find this better than all the others mentioned above. Another great site is http://www.animecrazy.net or dramacrazy.net (same). Asian dramas and anime, very fast, quality ok, no need to dl software to watch. Most dramas are cut in 15min.
Thank you!
Just found your blog but “thanks” already
OK to ask here WHAT to watch, instead of where? I’m been watching BOF and am considering watching one of the earlier versions. Did u watch either the Japanese or Taiwanese version and if so, which would u recommend? (Or which have your friends, counsins, etc. recommended or mentioned?) Thanks again!
Ah, yes. My general thoughts on dramas I’ve watched is here (you can also find it on the top display bar there, it’s called Drama/Anime/Movies).
As for the earlier versions, I’ve watched the Japanese one the whole way through, and generally enjoyed it – the chemistry is good but some of the manga-like overdramatization might turn you off. I have a pretty bad record with TW dramas, and Meteor Garden was no exception. I couldn’t watch it past the first 15 minutes.
If held at gunpoint, I would recommend the Japanese version, as it’s more recent and had the advantage of the completed manga to work with.
hey, wanted to add http://www.mykofan.com/
the vids are basically from mysoju but it’s well organized
and also dramacrazy.net
i used to watch j-drama n k-drama on veoh..
but veoh is not available in my country anymore..
veoh sux..
So found the sight thought it was oout together well, just a suggestion for a site though… its one of the best!!!
mysoju.com
dramafever.com is another awesome site to watch dramas! high-quality & english subs, although you have to register to watch, and you will have to sit through ~5 short ads per episode. It has a handful of dramas right now, and is currently adding more.. check it out!! ive watched goong & my lovely kim sam soon on it so far
Well, vikii’s pretty good. It has a weird interface and splits episodes into lots of parts, but my god, the speed for subtitles are amazing. It’s worth it.
Like, the episode’s just aired in its country barely 10 minutes and someone will have uploaded it and subbed it. Lots of people can just sub any part they like, so the combined effort means lots of subtitle language choices and crazy fast uploads.
Of course, during rush hours, they control by only allowing members to view the videos, but registering is free anyway.
