Prospective Dramas

25 04 2008

So, while I was off nursing my wounds from Hong Gil Dong and various real life stuff, I’d realized that it’s time to dive back into the spirit of full-scale drama obsession once more!

Hence this post.

Stuff that look interesting:

Legend of the Condor Heroes (2007 version, as opposed to the 1795613878 other versions)

Trailer below:

Guo Jin - Hu Ge
Yang Kang - Yuan Hong
Huang Rong - Ariel Lin
Mu Nianci - Lu Sisi

Ariel Lin strikes me as a particularly impish Huang Rong, which will make a welcome change to Zhou Xun’s rather more OOC performance. Don’t get me wrong - I like Zhou Xun, but the job description calls for a scintillatingly lively and cheeky girl, which she wasn’t.

Not too stuck on the other characters, especially as they’re probably going to play up Ouyang dude’s role. And try to redeem Yang Kang. Geurkness. I liked them evil and one dimensional, plskthx. The last one was awesome for side roles (and main roles if you disregard the source material on the girl’s side…).

Filming and release has been delayed due to Hu Ge’s back injury - a bad thing for martial arts epics, we know.

I hope they won’t mess the original novel too much… I have had it up to here with creatively ‘fusion’ historical dramas.

(Just noticed - there’s one actor who’s been in both versions, though in different roles. See if you can spot him! Will do a Legend 03 version post ASAP.)

Il Ji Mae

Yet another Robin Hood-esque do-gooder story. This time starring Lee Junki. I keep telling myself I’m interested because I want to cure my HGD melancholy, but the real reason is that I’m watching it just for the eyecandy.

It’s supposed to start broadcasting sometime in May, but there’s been delays and pushbacks, so keep your ears open.

Hana Yori Dango the movie

Trailer/teaser below:

Okaaaaay. The English sub got moved… so here’s the rough translation.

Domyouji: Marry me, Tsukushi!

“Presenting the drama that was such a hit, they made it into a movie!” [Pan of main characters, tralalala, look at the pretty lights.]

Voiceover: We ran all over the world for love.

Domyouji: What the heck is this?!

Tsukushi: Wha… that guy!

It’s not much, but dudes, it’s Hanadan. What else do I need to say? Comes out June 28.

Love,

Wanted, movie

18 04 2008

Yeah yeah. I know. It has absolutely nothing in common with the graphic novel of the same title, except for the protagonist, who is named Wesley Gibson.

And I know they butchered the plot and meaning of the original Wanted, which tends to annoy me in books I dearly love, but since James McAvoy is starring in it, I’ll give it a shot.

Undoubtedly it will turn into one of those underdog-to-hero things. Oh well. There are worse things to be.

Clichés inherent in the system:

- Boring, broody, yet strangely hot if only he would dress well (and by well we mean black leather) hero? Check.
- Gorgeous and mysterious woman? With guns? And who making out with the hero? Check.
- Secret monastic brotherhood? Check.
- Fate/destiny/any variant thereof on the free will issue? Check.
- Gunfighting? Check.
- Underdog with surprising powers? Check.
- Assassins? Check.
- Mystic mumbo-jumbo? Check.
- Did we mention the guns?

But James McAvoy! The same one we fell in love with in Atonement and wondered at in Penelope (meaning, why was he there, even if he is rakishly cute and yummy?).

Yes, I am a sucker for the pretty faces, how could you tell?

Doremifasolatido trailer, subbed

10 04 2008

It’s a bit fuzzy, but you at least now you can understand what’s going on, right? Give thanks to sheena0627, who put it together!

And two more trailers, with song clips. Tuchee11 over at soompi put them up.

Teaser one

Teaser two

Jang Geun Suk sings in these!

And a cast interview in English. Ignore the audio, or the subtitles, because they’re not together.

It looks terribly teen angst, but as I’m in it for the eyecandy, whatever goes. Though I did check the plot of the original fic/story to make sure JGS didn’t get screwed over, again.

JGS, plus Doremi

9 04 2008

Okay, okay. I am now addicted to youtube. Seriously. I could spend hours wandering around on that thing.

I also have a dilemma: I have the OST for Doremifasolatido but the song titles are screwed up and I’m waiting to fix them before posting it.

Do you guys want it anyway? (Once I figure them out I’ll put up the proper page… I don’t want to keep you waiting if you really want it but the song titles being gibberish is a major pain.)

Nevermind. Fixed!

Here’s another video of shots from Doremifasolatido - it’s the OST version of ‘Full of Sunshine’, which is to say, not the Jang Geun Suk one. (As much as I lament the lack of release for his songs, I guess they have to pay a lot more for him to do it now… just hope someone, somewhere, has them. JGS has a wonderfully dreamy voice… I want those songs in his voice!)

And just for the cute factor, Jang Geun Suk and the cast of Doremifasolatido doing the ‘Tell Me’ dance. Do ignore the fans screaming.

Love,

Sevenses

Doremi tidbits

26 03 2008

To cheer myself up a bit, I strolled around at the JGS thread… and I found this ‘making of’ video of Doremifasolatido (took me four times to type that correctly, obviously still traumatized by that Horrible Thing of Doom.)

Here is the link. It’s quite cute, and the boy sings!

Waiting for the Time, a song from Doremifasolatido. More singing. *swoons*

Full of Sunshine, another song. *is dead of swooning*

Go thank the people who posted this! Go!

Love,

Sevenses

Doremi pictures!

18 03 2008

As I am not one for spamming people with pictures, here’s a Chinese site that has a lot of photos from the 2006 planned-release of Doremifasolatido. Enjoy. :)

That was all,

More on Doremifasolatido

11 03 2008

Soo…. because I get overly obsessed, and because I suspect I am becoming a fan of JGS, I went over to soompi and read over the translations for the novel version of Doremifasolatido. I’m seeing traces of love geometry, but it’s done interestingly enough that I’d like to keep reading, though I hope it doesn’t end in tragedy.

Here’s a picture of our main girl and guy:

you said what?!

So, in the novel…

Character Overview:

Yoon Jungwon (played by Cha Ye Ryun): Main character. Quick-tempered girl who learned to fight after a traumatic incident with her best friend. Not known for her beauty.

Shin Eungyu: The lead singer of a popular local band. Quirky, loyal, and terribly attractive. (Played by JGS! For the unitiated, he’s the new pretty face on the block - though how he remains so pretty is beyond me - what with finishing HGD, filming this movie, his two CF promos and his other movie coming out end of this year, I don’t know when he takes a break to sleep, let alone refresh makeup. But then, celebrities always have time to refresh makeup.)

Kang Heewon (played by Jung Eui Chul): Ex-best friend of Jungwon. His father was reported by Jungwon after he did a hit and run - he was put in jail because he killed a little boy. Heewon sees Jungwon’s action as a betrayal and gathered a group of people to beat her up - it was very brutal. Since then, they have cut off all contact.

Shin Sohyun: Eungyu’s sister. Very pretty, reduces Jaewang to quivering and infatuated jelly.

Yoon Jaewang: Jungwon’s little brother. Uses his looks to get what he wants, but is a decent kid.

Nari: Another vocalist of the band. Cutesy and blue-eyed.

Seohyun: Awesome rocker person of band, is possibly the only rational adult in this pack of wild teens.

Yoona: Eungyu’s airheaded but loyal friend.

(They’re almost all high schoolers. Not sure when or where they get the time to be doing all that they do, but whatever. Who am I to question narrative logic?)

General Relationship of Main Characters:

Jungwon is a quick-tempered high school girl who falls in love with Eungyu, but things escalate out of control when her old best friend, Heewon, interferes.
