Songs from ROCH

30 04 2008

About to fall asleep over the keyboard, I think, is a good indication that one should go to bed/plan less activities in the day.

But who cares about sleep when you have the internet?

I have been revisiting my favourite dramas, and I fell in love with the Return of Condor Heroes OST (2006) all over again.

The opening and closing are especially good.

天下无双/Without Match: Sung by one of the top female vocalists in China, this song is at once haunting and full of longing. [zShare]

江湖笑/Laughter of the Pugilist: (augh, crappy translation, but closest I can muster at present) Just fun to listen to - though I have my doubts about the middle. [zShare]

And here’s a random MV of the series, in case you’re interested:

Return of the Condor Heroes is very much a love story, which is a slight change from Jin Yong’s other works, and I’ll get into more detail when I can actually prop my eyelids open.

Love,

Sevenses

haha I think we are both in the same Wu Xiao mode.

I really like the song 天下无双 but this version of ROCH, not so much. I think after watching too much dramas originated from Jin Yong/ Gu Long’s works, you learn to be picky and hard to impress. No, no not an excuse!
But, Louis Koo’s version is still the all time classic for me. :D

Seems interesting, plus the songs are nice.
I probably will watch it when peace and laziness come back in my life.
And, is the end HGD-like? Or is it happy? Because I’m looking for something with limited crying involved.

iurgnotmis: I have usually two drama categories: eyecandy and quality. ROCH falls into the eyecandy… it’s pretty, but the plot’s really stretched, and it feels like forever before anything starts to make sense. Plus the end got screwed over.

flyingcrispi: It’s limited crying. I’d recommend Legend of Condor Heroes first, though. Otherwise it won’t make sense.

Agree. It’s definitely eyecandy. But sometimes being eyecandy is just not enough.

Oh! If you find time, try to watch The Last Scandal of My Life. :)

Ahaha. My to-watch list stands at 12 dramas and 5 movies. It may be summer soon, but even I will balk at that kind of list.

Still. Will try. Thanks for the rec!

Omg, where to start?

Absolute Boyfriend and Last Friends for Japanese.

All About Eve, Last Scandal of My Life, Il Ji Mae, Painter on the Wind for the Korean ones.

武林外传 for Chinese. I don’t even care that it’s 80 episodes long and a sitcom. If more comes out I will be suctioned to the screen, that’s how good it is.

Enjoy for now? Lols.

I’ve only seen 2 episodes of 武林外传. I know it’s popular among viewers, is it that good?

I’ll look into Absolute Boyfriend and Last Friends! Thanks for the recommendation! :D Can’t wait for summer to come!!
