I was just kidding, Hong Sisters!

26 02 2008

Image heavy!

Aaaaaaaand, ep 15 and 16 fulfilled the wildest slasher fangirl hopes with GD x CH scenes being literally sprinkled around. Especially the last scene, ouch.

I was just kidding when I said GD/CH was a solid possibility… but hey. I like both of them.
Okay, so… not going back all the episodes, but notable GDxCH moments so far:

In first place, for sheer visual and fangirly power: CH falling into GD’s arms at the end of ep16 when the girl he likes is right next door. Come on. Same moment, but GD’s reaction: he never knew he was this important to Chang Hui!

Hong Gil Dong Episode 16, recap

25 02 2008

Am all excited~ this ep was so fun… It was a feel-good episode. Until.. well, the end. *wails*

Episode 16

It begins with that dip position that had all of us fangirls at the edge of our seats. Alas, a kiss, there was not.

GD: This isn’t how you’re supposed to look at a team leader.
YN: jasdkfj (Audience: We concur.)
GD: You look like you can’t breathe. Do you need CPR? Close your eyes and we’ll see.
YN: *hyperventilating* No, no, breathing’s fine now, it’s okay, thanks!
GD: What a strong will. What fortitude and gallantry. Very good attitude. Keep it up. Jiayou!

He exits smirking, pausing just a little for a “Mong Chong Yi” under his breath.

Enok, cheeks scarlet and not quite recovered from such close interaction with Gil Dong, remembers the Underwater Breathing Scene. Mark it well, my girl.

In his own room now, Gil Dong is having a conversation with Hae Myung. The old monk warns him that having Enok around will be difficult, but Gil Dong replies that it’s harder for both of them to keep apart. He adds that they will try hard to protect one another.

After Gil Dong leaves, Hae Myung says, “Smile happily together while you can.” (Audience: nooooooooo.)

Ep17 preview

24 02 2008

No vid as of now- only text.

VID HERE. Go thank Crybabytt!!

Chang Hui is carried away by Gil Dong and Enok to a shed to hide. Gil Dong takes out the arrow but it’s poisoned, so now he needs to look for an antidote. (*whacks at Noh*)

Meanwhile, Enok holds Chang Hui’s hand and tries to keep him alive. Somehow or other, Gil Dong comes back with antidote with Eun Hye (who supplied it). Enok crying and telling him to stay alive, and Chang Hui tells her not to cry while Gil Dong bandages him. Chang Hui glares up at EH (because of her father) after he’s all bandaged.

A while later, a healed Chang Hui (see, they wouldn’t let him die!) says smtg to Enok that makes her think for quite a while. It’s about ‘being together with Gil Dong’. (Inner slash fangirl squeal)

Chang Hui says something along the lines of ‘don’t betray me’ to Gil Dong. Rather ominious.

Gil Dong is jealous that Enok nursed CH, steals a kiss while she’s asleep.

Will post with vid as soon as it’s out. Am also working on 16’s recap - almost done!

Love,

Hong Gil Dong Episode 15, recap

23 02 2008

Onto the episode, people. (Sorry for delay, school is kicking me like a football.)

Episode 15

We start off from Gil Dong’s perspective, as he is frog-marched by what seems like an excess of soldiers into the king’s Utmost Secrecy Chamber. He has a flashback of Chang Hui telling him the specific location of the sword. It is in the Inner Sanctum, hidden from view, and since many people are guarding that section of the palace, it will be extremely difficult to get out.

We also find out that Mal Nyeo intended to sneak in as the king’s one-night gisaeng, and that she is in charge of looking for the sword while Gil Dong distracts her. She reassures him, that, as an expert thief, it will be a piece of cake.

Right before entering the room, Gil Dong is told by the Yongmun’s insider that he must succeed, or he will be killed.

We switch to see the king still in “Why you stare at meeeeeeeeeeeee?” mode with Enok.

Gil Dong enters, and the king asks him if he is truly Hong Gil Dong. Enok looks up at the mention of his name. Gil Dong sees her in gisaeng dress and is very shocked, but manages to contain his feelings so as to not give anything away.

Back home at Yongmun, Chang Hui confirms that Enok really went into the palace and panics.

The gang, camping out in their customary warehouse, hope that Gil Dong and Enok succeed.

Meanwhile, behind the king’s back, Enok does her Jiayou gesture at Gil Dong.

The king begins his interrogation about Chang Hui’s whereabouts.

Arr, ep16 preview

20 02 2008

I’m sorry, haven’t watched 15 yet, but will upload the preview of episode 16 of Hong Gil Dong in penance.

It’s on a Chinese site, and raw, but the user buttons are pretty much universal.

HERE.

It’s got something to do with Chinese officials bringing in opium - and as if the king isn’t crazy enough, he’s going to try some too. (I’ll leave my rant for Koreans making Chinese people generally evil in historical shows for later. I don’t have all the info, and neither do they, but I’m so tired of Chinese people being vilified both sides of the Pacific.) GD and gang set up plan, with CH and his gang involved - bringing down the Qing dynasty emissary. So CH and his people dress up in their ninja clothes and hunker down for attack - and maybe there’s a palace angle to it, I can’t tell.

BUT BUT AN ARROW FLIES AT GD, AND CH STEPS IN FRONT OF HIM!! Saves GD, but CH loses consciousness, taking an arrow exactly where he did (- oh oh oh penance and they’re even now, right??)

YN looks panicked, GD looks shocked. End preview.

If CH did this intentionally, I will love him more than I already do. There is much fangirling of CH from me for this eppie anyway.

Love you all,

Sevenses

Art being surprisingly interesting

20 02 2008

So, if you take people’s opinions on what they want for art, and you incorporate those opinions into actual paintings?

You get this:

china’s most wanted

At least, that’s the most popular painting in China.

The least popular is this:

china’s least wanted

The artists doing this are two Russians (named Komar and Melamid), who thought that art, like anything else in our consumerist society, should be solicited and democratic. They created a generalized survey for people and then included all the results in a painting.

Unsurprisingly, the favourite colour was blue.

For the rest of the countries, i.e. the US, France or Germany, go to their original website.

It’s funny, because none of the paintings really appeal to me, on an individual basis.

Hong Gil Dong recaps may be delayed due to some school stuff. Check for updates, I guess.

Blue, a short story

18 02 2008

Originally for Melu, darling that she is, but I’ve made a few changes here and there, and thought I’d put it up. This is based on a queen in Chinese history, named Bao Si. (Very fictionalized, of course - for one thing, the king was actually a complete failure at being kingly, and the queen… wasn’t so diabolical.)

Enjoy!

Blue

Long ago, when the shores still resounded with the whispers of the gods, when the stones and bones of the world were still young, a mighty king held reign over a vast land. He was revered far and wide, for he had rid the lands of its warring, feuding clans, choosing instead to unite, to focus all the cunning and bravery of its people to countries across the wide depths of the ocean and the endless sea of grass. The loyalty and love of his subjects ensured a long prosperous life, for there was nothing they would not do for him. One word, nay, one look was enough to send a man to his willing death with praises for the king still on his lips.

Such life invites envy, and the gods are jealous beings.

say no! to drugs

17 02 2008

Yes, educational message of the day over with.

flyingcrispi, bless her soul, wanted something to distract her from the HGDWS

Here you go:

1. Save the whales…Collect the whole set.

2. A day without sunshine is like…Night.

3. On the other hand…you have different fingers.

4. 42.7 percent of all statistics are made up on the spot.

5. 99 percent of lawyers give the rest a bad name.

6. Remember, half the people you know are below average.

7. He who laughs last thinks slowest.

8. Depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

9. The early bird may get the worm…but the second mouse gets the cheese in the trap.

10. Support bacteria…They’re the only culture some people have.

11. A clear conscience is usually the sign of a bad memory.

12. Change is inevitable, except from vending machines.

13. If you think nobody cares, try missing a couple of payments.

14. How many of you believe in psycho-kinesis? OK, now raise my hand.

15. So what’s the speed of dark?

16. When everything is coming your way, you’re in the wrong lane.

17. Hard work pays off in the future…Laziness pays off now.

18. Every one has a photographic memory. Some just don’t have film.

19. How much deeper would the ocean be without sponges?

20. Eagles may soar, but weasels don’t get sucked into jet engines.

21. What happens if you get scared half to death twice?

22. I couldn’t repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder.

23. Why do psychics have to ask you for your name?

24. Inside every older person is a younger person wondering what just happened.

25. Just remember…If the world didn’t suck, we would all fall off.

26. Light travels faster than sound. That’s why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

27. Life isn’t like a box of chocolates…It’s more like a jar of jalapenos. What you do today, might burn your butt tomorrow.

So, apparently, according to the Chinese subbers, in 15, Gil Dong will cut free of the ropes, fight the king. The king will escape using some ultra-sekrit tunnel to the royal family morgue. But Chang Hui is waiting there…

Woss ‘e doin’ there? Possibly to rescue YN and GD, possibly b/c things are just going out of control.

I hope they release a ‘real’ preview soon, going craaaaaaaazy.

PREVIEW UP AT YOUTUBE! Go over there and thank crybabytt for putting it up, yeah!

Hong Gil Dong Episode 14, recap

17 02 2008

How intense. I really am at the edge of my seat for this one… (it’s not often I can forgive writers making me love so many characters at once, but somehow they do it here).

Coming back to you guys after 13 hours of sleep? Bliss.

Episode 14

In a moment of panic, Gil Dong requests help from Chang Hui, hoping that he’ll be altruistic enough to step up and get his people out. Chang Hui’s condition for help is for Gil Dong to fight his own father. Gil Dong realizes that he’s being used (and is that disappointment I see in his eyes?), but he’s not in a position to be picky. Chang Hui dictates his terms: he wants the Sa Yin sword back. It’s with the king, and he wants Gil Dong to use his father to get the sword.

(So sneaky and manipulative. My inner Machiavelli approves, but I suspect this guy’s getting some mental egging from lots of other people. Also, his disregard for other people’s dignity/humanity is kind of disturbing - this isn’t the fluffy prince who played with Enok at all. Also, it occurs to me that had CH helped GD at this point in time, GD might have helped him steal the sword anyway.)

When Gil Dong scoffs, Chang Hui says, “For that sword, you were killed by your father. Now, steal it back, the thing that your father most fears, since you have chosen to be a thief.

Gil Dong snarls a no, and leaves.
